Information sessions on efficient and sustainable farm practices
A series of information sessions have been organised across the south east region with aim of promoting on-farm water efficiency and sustainable practices.
The Queensland Government is taking further steps to encourage irrigators to adopt more efficient water use practices with the introduction of the South East Queensland—Irrigation Futures program (SEQ-IF). The program is part of the government’s commitment — outlined in the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2005–2026—to address the needs of rural water users in the region.
SEQ-IF is modelled on the highly successful Rural Water Use Efficiency initiative which has run since 1999. Initiatives and incentives that lead to irrigators adopting more efficient water use practices will be funded for an initial period of four years, starting in 2005–06.
