About Us
South East Queensland – Irrigation Futures (SEQ-IF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government, South East Queensland’s five major irrigation industry groups and Irrigation Australia Ltd (IAL) to help irrigators use water more effectively.
Landholders who operate an irrigation enterprise in South East Queensland (from Noosa in the north, Toowoomba City in the west and the Queensland-New South Wales border in the south) are eligible to join the program.
Why should growers get involved in SEQ–IF?
Managing water better is good for the community, good for the environment – and good for the bottom line. Productivity gains are likely outcomes of better water application techniques.
Industry groups can help irrigators by supporting better irrigation and water management practices, encouraging irrigators to adopt farm management systems and by becoming involved in priority natural resource management issues.
The program involves industry working with irrigators, industry associations and natural resource management groups to improve water-use effi ciency and reduce environmental impact.
SEQ – IF is also supported by research and development activities provided through the CRC Irrigation Futures, the National Centre for Engineering in Agriculture and Irrigation Australia Ltd. These organisations assist irrigators and industry personnel through the development of tools, the provision of training and technical support to better manage irrigation water use.
This website has been developed to make accessible information such as reports, tools and calculators and links to other sites that are relevant to irrigation in south east Queensland. The website has been provided for knowledge brokers, irrigators and and other individuals and organisations with an interest in irrigation in south east Queensland.
